Dr Kavitha Maduraiveeran

Dr Kavitha is a compassionate and experienced General Practitioner with a strong focus on the mental health and wellbeing of children and adolescents. With over 20 years of clinical experience and working across several countries including India, Sri Lanka , UK and Australia , she provides a calm, thoughtful, and family-centred approach to care.
She completed nearly eight years of psychiatry training in Oxfordshire, UK and Australia, gaining broad experience in child and adolescent mental health. She later undertook her General Practice training across rural and regional South Australia, including Yankalilla and Strathalbyn. This has shaped her strong commitment to accessible, community-based care and continuity for families.
Dr Kavitha provides assessment and ongoing management for a range of childhood mental health conditions, including:
• Anxiety disorders
• Depressive disorders
• Adjustment difficulties and school-related stress
• Crisis presentations in children and adolescents
She also offers ADHD assessments for children aged 8 years and above, along with ongoing management and support for families. Her approach is holistic and collaborative, working closely with parents, schools, and allied health professionals to develop practical, individualised care plans.
Dr Kavitha has particular expertise in early identification and intervention, as well as crisis assessment and management. She is skilled in recognising when escalation of care is required and can coordinate timely referrals to paediatricians, psychologists, or emergency services when necessary.
Known for her gentle manner and attentive approach, Dr Kavitha builds strong, trusting relationships with both children and their families, creating a safe and supportive environment for care.
