Telehealth online consultations at Priority Paediatrics.

Paediatric appointments from the comfort of your own home, anywhere in Australia!

Traditionally, "Telehealth" was reserved for patients who live in a regional area and were not able to easily attend a doctors appointment.  During the COVID-19 pandemic, Medicare rebates have been extended to also allow patients in metropolitan areas to access Telehealth.

Our paediatric doctors at Priority Paediatrics can can attain a lot of information by observing your child via a video consultation. You will have a conversation with the doctor exactly the same as if you were in the clinic. If your child needs a physical examination, then this will be subsequently arranged in clinic, or our paediatrician will advise the best course of action.

Our Telehealth consultations provide patients with the same professional care they would otherwise acquire from a face-to-face consultation.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

What equipment is required?

A computer or mobile device with an internet connection, web cam and microphone. We will send you a link to easily access your appointment.

I don't have access to video, can we use the telephone instead?

While video is preferred, in certain cases telephone is ok. Please discuss this with our receptionists.

Is Telehealth secure?

We will only ever use a platform for Telehealth that is secure and compliant with Australian Privacy laws.

What are the fees?

Fees are the same as in-clinic appointments. Different billing rates depend on the type of consultation and paediatrician. We will send you the doctors fee schedule upon booking.

Will Medicare pay?

With a valid referral and Medicare card, Medicare will currently provide a rebate for all Australians due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

As a private clinic, an out of pocket gap will apply.

How do I pay?

Our receptionist will send you a link to pay securely online. Alternatively you can pay online via EFT.

Do I need a referral from my GP?

If you would like to access a Medicare rebate, yes. Alternatively, you are welcome to access Telehealth without a referral, however the cost will be higher as Medicare will not provide a rebate.

What if I don't want to use Telehealth?

That is perfectly fine. Online consultations are a service for families who might find it hard to access paediatric care where they live, or because of the current COVID-19 pandemic. We are happy to offer you an appointment in-clinic as soon as we can.

What if I am worried that my child needs to be seen urgently in person?

You should present to the Emergency Department at your closest hospital or dial 000.
